When John B Stetson was in residence he often hired the town band to play on his front porch on Friday nights. This weekend, on April 28, Deland will host a music festival with 150 different live bands in downtown. Start your day with a Mansion tour at 10am and then hit Woodland Ave with Michael at noon for the start of the festival. We are only a short drive from Orlando or Daytona. The gardens at the Stetson Mansion are ushering springtime with 100 white Easter blooms. There is no finer climate in the country than in Deland at this time of year. Our morning tours provide visitors the opportunity to stroll the grounds in the cool morning air before the warmer afternoon breezes arrive. Either side of noon is beautiful here. After our tour many of our guests head to downtown Deland for a wonderful meal at the Brickhouse or Cooks. The Stetson Mansion is a short trip from Orlando, The Villages, or Daytona Beach. The Christmas season visitors to the Mansion doubled this year! Thank you for all the compliments on the decorations. Jt spent all this week packing the decorations away and the house has returned to its usual glamour. A special thank you goes out to everyone who took the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. Wow! "The most spectacular Christmas decorations I have ever seen!" They were so amazing that many visitors cried at the sight of their beauty when thay walked in the front door. JT out did himself. There were twice as many visitors this season. Did everyone see the front page story in the Daytona Beach News Journal? Thank you to everyone who wrote such glowing reviews on Trip Advisor to rate us Deland's number one attraction. The decorations have been taken down and the house is now ready to continue with regular tours. Remember, if you have a large group you can book a time of your choice.

We are half way through the Christmas tour season and the recption has been amazing! JT has gone over the top with the decorations this year and Bright House has posted a video tour on their channel 300 "On Demand." Even our fireplaces have been chosen as the place to see the 2011 Yule Logs. If you ever wanted to have "A White Christmas " or "Come home for the Holidays" you must come see us at the Stetson Mansion.

The halls are all decked out for the holidays! There is an amazing array of decorations from the past 50 years to the present, arranged in a fresh new way for 2010. The Mansion comes to life with the sounds and sights of Christmas that appeals to the inner child in all of us. Many of our current traditions come from the Victorian era so what better stage for Christmas than the Stetson Mansion which is built in the "high Victorian" style! Our surprise guest designer added her own spectacular over the top "Birds of a Feather" theme to the school house which has been converted to a Zen inspired guest house. When the lights come on at night the estate is transformed into a magical wonderland and you just can't help being moved by the experience. Day and night tours are running until January 7th. Reservations are required.

We are thrilled to announce that Magnolia Tree Company will be redesigning and planting the grounds at the Stetson Mansion. The gardens presently at the mansion were installed about 4 years ago and they have served us well but unfortunately they are very susceptible to the cold weather that we have been getting over the last couple of winters. Because of this they the gardens remain in a dormant, and quite honestly, a somewhat ugly stage for 5-6 months out of the year. So we have decided to change the gardens to a more cold friendly landscape and feature some of the most beautiful specimen and estate trees from Magnolia Tree Company. The trees from this company are considered some of the best Magnolias in the country and they also have an amazing transplantation method of mature oak trees that give an instant mature garden. Magnolia Tree Company has been featured in O magazine, Southern Living and even had their beautiful holiday wreaths featured at the White House! This partnership with Magnolia Tree Co. will enhance the intrinsic beauty of the mansion while adding yet another layer and element of grandeur. We are hoping to begin the transformation very soon and I will post the photos when we begin.
